President Jair Bolsonaro said Tuesday (Jan. 5) he is in “full recovery” and “happy” to share this feeling with everybody. In a message posted on Twitter, the president wished everyone a great day. He has been in hospital for 11 days, following an intestinal reconstruction surgery.

“My health state is in full recovery at the moment, and I’m happy to share this feeling with everybody! One day at a time! Have an excellent Tuesday everyone,” he said.

Presidential spokesman Otávio Rêgo Barros said that Bolsonaro was treated with antibiotics after showing a body temperature of -37.3º C and alterations in a few laboratory tests, which may indicate an infection.

He was expected to be discharged from hospital in seven days. Imaging exams showed a “fluid buildup” next to his intestines where the colostomy bag was, according to the latest medical report.

The president is at a semi-intensive care unit. He is not using a nasogastric tube, and is being fed intravenously only.
