After being indicted by the Federal Police, former President Jair Bolsonaro shared excerpts from his interview with the news portal Metrópoles on his social media account X on Thursday (Nov. 21). In the interview, he stated that he would wait for his lawyer to assess the indictment.

“You have to see what's in this indictment by the Federal Police. I'll wait for my lawyer. Obviously, this will go to the Attorney General's Office. That's where the fight begins. I can't expect anything from a team that uses creativity to accuse me,” said the former president.

Bolsonaro also criticized Justice Alexandre de Moraes, the rapporteur of the January 8 coup attempt case at the Supreme Court. “Justice Alexandre de Moraes oversees the entire investigation, manipulates testimonies, makes arrests without charges, hunts for evidence, and relies on a highly creative advisory team. He does everything the law prohibits,” Bolsonaro said.

Former President Bolsonaro is among 37 individuals indicted in the Federal Police investigation into a criminal organization accused of conspiring to prevent then-President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and his vice President, Geraldo Alckmin, from taking office in 2022, after Bolsonaro’s defeat in the presidential election.
