Brazil registers over 2 mi cases of dengue in 2024
Confirmed deaths from the disease now total 682

Brazil’s Ministry of Health has reported more than 2 million cases of dengue fever in 2024. Of the total of 2,010,896 probable cases, 682 have resulted in death—a figure that could rise as 1,042 deaths are still under investigation.
According to the ministry’s report, the incidence rate of the disease stands at 990.3 cases per 100 thousand people.
With 161,299 probable cases, the Federal District has the highest incidence rate (5,725.8) among all Brazilian states. Second comes Minas Gerais, with an incidence rate of 3,295 and 676,758 probable cases.
The state with the highest number of probable cases is São Paulo (379,222). The rate recorded in the state is 853.7 cases per 100 thousand people.
