The president flew to Ethiopia to attend the 37th African Union Summit as a guest and took the opportunity to hold bilateral meetings.
President Lula is expected to address several topics during his trip, including the fight against inequality and hunger, the energy transition, climate change, reform of international institutions, and the expansion of trade between Brazil and African countries.
The president should stay in Egypt on Feb. 15–16 to meet his counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sissi. On Feb. 17–18, he will be in Addis Ababa for an African Union assembly. Next, in Guyana, the president will attend the Caribbean Community summit.
Lula articulated the program's overarching goal, stating, "Our priority is to instigate an agricultural revolution in Angola to ensure economic growth and food security for its population."
On the fourth and last part of his visit to West African countries, Brazil’s Foreign Minister Ernesto Araújo signed the Agreement on Security and Internal Order in Luanda today (Dec. 12).
