Brazil's government has set up a workgroup to discuss sending additional humanitarian aid to African countries affected by Ebola, answering a request by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to President Dilma Rousseff. Demands include equipment, food, and financial resources.

On Tuesday (Oct. 7), the ministers of Health, Foreign Relations, and Defense met to consider the matter. Throughout this week, ministry experts will be discussing possible contributions to meet the UN's request. A final decision is expected in the upcoming days.

So far, Brazil has already sent its donation of funds and kits with basic medicine and health supplies to treat Ebola patients at hospitals in Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone, through a cooperation effort with the World Health Organization (WHO).
