The contributions add up to BRL 45 million. In doing so, the two nations have joined the 15-year-old initiative, which until then had received contributions from Norway and Germany, as well as state-owned oil giant Petrobras.
Denmark could become the fourth donor to the fund—which currently has resources from Norway, Germany, and state-run oil giant Petrobras. In exchange, Brazil must pledge to fight deforestation.
Barth Eide met with Minister Marina Silva in Brasília. Both ministers reaffirmed the bilateral partnership on climate and forests, based on the Amazon Fund and the International Climate and Forests Initiative.
