Starting April 10, tourists from these three countries must apply for an electronic visa, known as an e-Visa, through the platform: https://brazil.vfsevisa.com.
The measure was delayed to allow for the completion of the electronic visa system implementation process and to avoid disruptions during the peak travel season.
The longest time was reported in São Paulo. Applicants seeking to make an appointment can get one in 615 days. Next are Porto Alegre (507 days), Brasília (493), Rio (478), and Recife (449). Only Rio has had longer waiting lines in the past.
Brazilians willing to go to Mexico will need a physical visa, printed in their passport, to enter the country. Currently, an electronic authorization is sufficient.
This measure assures the continuity of the policy adopted by Brazil in 2012, due to the situation of calamity, and the worsening of the humanitarian situation in Haiti.
