Unemployment rate reaches 7.6% in August
The figure was higher than in July this year and August last year

The unemployed population stood at 1.9 million people,
The unemployment rate in the six main metropolitan areas of the country was 7.6% in August, according to the Monthly Employment Survey (PME) conducted by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The rate was higher than those reported in July this year (7.5%) and August 2014 (5%).
The unemployed population stood at 1.9 million people, the same number as in July 2015, and 52.1% larger than that of August 2014.
The employed population was estimated at 22.7 million people, remaining stable compared to July. Compared to August last year, however, it decreased 1.8%.
