The number of formal jobs closed in November in the country totaled 130,629. According to figures from the General Register of the Employed and Unemployed (CAGED) released Friday (Dec. 18) by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the amount represents a reduction of 0.32% in the total number of registered workers compared to that of the previous month.

The Ministry of Labor reports a slowdown in the reduction of occupied posts in the Brazilian labor market, as the number of jobs in October had faced a more significant decline, 0.42% (169.131 fewer posts) compared to September.

“This behavior is mostly justified by the performance seen in the trade sector (51,592 new posts), which showed the best figure since November 2014 (105,043 new jobs). Services also made a contribution to this slowdown scenario, which, despite showing a decrease of 23,312 posts, experienced a result better than the one observed last October, when the drop reached 46,246 jobs,” the ministry announced through a note.

As for the year-to-date, the formal employment rate shows a loss of 945,363 job posts (2.29%) and, in the last 12 months, a negative variation of 3.55% (1,527,463 jobs).
