Brazil's state-run oil company Petrobras issued a statement this Tuesday (Aug. 2) confirming that the United States Second Circuit Court of Appeals suspended class and individual actions against the company, under deliberation in New York District Court. The actions were filed by investors seeking to recoup billion of dollars in losses stemming from bribery allegations at the company probed under Operation Car Wash.

The suspension is valid until the court rule on the appeal against another court's decision, ruled in February by US District Judge Jed Rakoff in New York, which authorized investors to file class actions against Petrobras.

Thus, the trial of class and individual actions, which were scheduled for September, are suspended. "We will continue to vigorously defend our rights," said Petrobras.
