Petrobras approves BRL 20 billion payment to shareholders

Petrobras’ board of directors approved Thursday (Nov. 21) the payment of BRL 20 billion in special dividends to shareholders. The amount is equivalent to BRL 1.55174293 per outstanding common and preferred share. A total of BRL 15.6 billion will be paid out as interim dividends based on the capital remuneration reserve, and BRL 4.4 billion as interim dividends based on current period profits.
The state-owned oil giant reported that the distribution is in line with the current shareholder remuneration policy, which stipulates that extraordinary remuneration may be paid out, provided that Petrobras’ financial sustainability is preserved.
For those who hold Petrobras shares traded on B3, the lump sum payment will be made on December 23, 2024. Holders of American depositary receipts are due to receive payment on January 3, 2025.
