Ford’s São Paulo plant slated for sale eyed by three car makers
São Paulo state Governor João Doria said today (Feb. 26) three companies have expressed interest in the purchase of a Ford plant in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo.
“I can say now that we received three consultations from truck and automobile manufactures, and that we will make plans known in due time as negotiations develop,” Doria said after the opening ceremony of Doing Business Brasil 2020 at the seat of the state government.
Two of the interested parties are international companies, Doria said. The other is a Brazilian firm. “Which shows we’re on the right track for finding a buyer,” he added.
Last week, after meeting with Ford’s South America CEO Lyle Watters, which confirmed the plant shutdown, the governor had announced his administration would work to help the company find a buyer for the auto making facility.
“It was settled with [the CEO] that operations [at the plant] will remain as usual until November,” Doria said.
