Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro announced Friday (Oct 11) that his administration will double the current limit for shopping at duty free shops. “Brazilians coming from trips overseas will be allowed to buy up to $1 thousand in goods at airports. The current maximum is $500,” he wrote on Twitter.
The Economy Ministry is drafting a decree with the measure, to be enacted in the coming days, Bolsonaro reported.
Also on Twitter, Bolsonaro said the quota allowed for shopping by Brazilians in Paraguay, on land, is going to change. In this case, the Brazilian government will raise the maximum total value of purchases from $300 to $500 per person.
