The Brazilian delegation announces the privatization of airports

Brazil sent this week to New York (USA) a delegation with the mission of attracting investors interested in the privatization of the Santos Port, Congonhas Airport, and Brazilian highways. Meetings with representatives of banks and foreign investment funds shall take place throughout the week.

The Brazilian delegation includes representatives from the Ministries of Infrastructure, Economy, Foreign Affairs, and the National Bank for Economic Development (BNDES).

According to Minister of Infrastructure Marcelo Sampaio, who leads the Brazilian delegation, the mission´s purpose is to inform investors about the 44 assets the federal government intends to privatize this year, with investments estimated at around BRL 110 billion ($ 22 billion dollars).

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, Brazil expects for instance BRL 44 billion ($ 8,5 billion dollars) investments through the privatization of highways in Paraná state, BRL 16 billion ($ 3,1 billion dollars) with the privatization of the Santos Port, and BRL 7 billion ($ 1,3 billion dollars) with the auctions of airports, including Congonhas in São Paulo state.
