Brazil’s government collected BRL 171.05 billion in taxes in March this year, the Federal Revenue Service reported Tuesday (Apr. 25). The amount shows a real reduction (inflation deducted) of 0.42 percent from the same month last year. These are federal taxes only—60 percent of what is collected countrywide.

Year to date, the value adds up to BRL 581.79 billion, up 0.72 percent above inflation—the highest in the time series for the quarter since 1995.
