The Science without Borders Program has extended to April 15 the deadline for the enrollment of international researchers interested in working in Brazil. Scholarship applications fall under two categories: Special Visiting Researcher and Young Talents. Both should be connected to graduate programs in Brazil recommended by government agency CAPES.

The projects approved are expected to be initiated on June 16. The program aims to attract to Brazil renowned scholars from different countries and research group leaders.

The Special Visiting Researcher scholarship is worth $6.37 thousand, and, in addition to that, may also include allowances for traveling and research work, a sandwich PhD program abroad and a postdoctoral fellowship in Brazil. It lasts from two to three years, and requires scholarship holders to stay in Brazil for 30 to 90 days each year. The additional scholarships are aimed at supporting research projects in the country and keeping contact with the researcher while outside Brazil.

The Young Talents scholarship is an attempt to bring to Brazil young talented researchers who live abroad, Brazilian or foreign. Its duration is 12 to 36 months, and allowances are granted which total $1,865 thousand or $3.185 thousand, depending on the level and profile of the researcher. Other financial benefits may be granted for relocation expenses, transport and research costs. Approximately 255 young talents are estimated to be given scholarships.
