The Jeffreys Bay stage of the World Surfing League (WSL) in South Africa began this Wednesday (13th) with three Brazilians winning on the Supertubes rights: Samuel Pupo and Yago Dora, who advanced to the round of 16 of the men's, and Tatiana Weston-Webb, who reached the women's quarterfinals.

Yago Dora was the first Brazilian to shine this Wednesday. He scored 13.84 points to beat the Olympic champion Italo Ferreira (13.10) and the South African Jordy Smith (10.50).

Samuel Pupo also stood out in the first phase. He had never competed in the icy rights of Jeffreys Bay. Samuel scored 12.57 points and surpassed the Australian Callum Robson (9.77) and the American Jake Marshall (9.43).

In the women's, Tatiana Weston-Webb showed once again that she is one of the main names on the circuit, scoring 13.33 points and beating the North American Lakey Peterson (12.97) and the two-time world champion Tyler Wright (10.13).

Jeffreys Bay is the ninth, and penultimate, stage of the WSL to define the top-5 and top-5 who will compete for the 2022 world titles at the WSL Finals in Trestles (California).
