Once again, Africans showed their dominance in Brazil's most traditional road race: the Saint Silvester international race in São Paulo. The men's race was won by Kenya's Wilson Too, who finished with a time of 44:21.

Second place was claimed by Joseph Panga from Tanzania, with a time of 44:51. Reuben Poghisho, also from Kenya, took third place, finishing in 45:26.

The top Brazilian in the race was Johnatas de Oliveira Cruz, who finished fourth, just behind the Kenyan runners, with a time of 45:32. Fifth place went to Kenya's Nicolas Kiptoo Kosgei, who completed the race in 45:41.

The last time Brazil won the men's Saint Silvester race was in 2010, when Marilson Gomes dos Santos claimed the victory.

First held on December 31, 1925, the race was only interrupted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
