Today (Jun 17) is the first day of the second round of the World Cup group phase. It opens with Brazil playing Mexico in Group A at Arena Castelão, Fortaleza, at 4pm.

Also on Tuesday, the first round will close with two final matches for Group H – at 1pm, Belgium and Algeria face off at Mineirão, Belo Horizonte, and at 7pm, Russia takes on South Korea at Arena Pantanal in Cuiabá.

Brazil and Mexico have got off to a good start in Group A and are playing for the lead and an early qualification for the next stage of the competition. So far, Brazil tops the group based on its goal difference after an upset 3-1 win on Croatia. In the first round, Mexico beat Cameroon 1-0.

Brazil vs. Mexico is a revival of the London Olympics final in 2012, when Mexico beat Brazil 2-1. Four of the current players were present back then: Captain Thiago Silva, defender Marcelo, and forwards Neymar and Hulk.
