The National Public Security Force carried out 86 operations in 2021. It is the largest number of missions since the troop was created in 2004 and turns 17 this Monday (29). Currently, 30 operations are underway across the country.

As for ongoing operations, there are actions for environmental policing and fighting forest fires, operating in indigenous lands; preservation and repression of urban and rural crimes; support for investigations and action at borders.

“With an effective trained and prepared to give a prompt response in several fronts of public security, the National Force has been acting with excellence in different fronts from North to South of Brazil”, said the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Anderson Torres.

In 2021, more than R$ 40 million were invested in the acquisition of public safety equipment for delivery to the states, in exchange for the availability of professionals who work in the Force.

The National Force is made up of military police, military firefighters, civil police and state experts. The group operates in borders, prisons, environmental reserves, indigenous areas, ostensible policing and in situations of Guarantee of Law and Order (GLO). They work, for example, in fighting crime, in humanitarian missions and in environmental operations.

In the environmental area, in 2021, more than 1,600 actions were carried out to prevent and repress environmental crimes in support of environmental agencies of the federal government and state governments. Official data indicate that the number of environmental actions by the National Force increased by 57%, from January to October this year, compared to the same period in 2020.

Operations in indigenous lands, also considered to be of an environmental nature, were supported in the fight against illegal logging, prohibited hunting and fishing, mining, among others.

As for humanitarian missions, the Federal Government has provided professionals to Haiti, including agents of the National Public Security Force, who assisted in providing medical assistance to the population and in the work of evaluating structures doomed after the earthquake that hit the country in August, leaving more than 2,000 dead and hundreds homeless.

In the fight against crime, the National Force participated, for example, in drug seizures , acted in cities that suffered attacks by criminals, such as Manaus and other cities in Amazonas in June and in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul in February, in prisons and in border security .
