The Brazilian Federal Revenue Service seized 337kg of cocaine Monday morning (Apr. 4) at the Itaguaí port, 73km away from Rio de Janeiro.
The drug was hidden in a container that had Europe as its final destination. The crackdown was carried out by the Division of Surveillance and Repression against Smuggling and Embezzlement of the Seventh Fiscal Region, which encompasses the states of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo.
The substance was found during an inspection at the container terminal with risk management criteria. X-ray equipment and a team of sniffer dogs were used.
The cocaine was sent to the Federal Police, who should investigate the case.
