The Carnival 2022 parades at Marquês de Sapucaí, in Rio de Janeiro, will have a special scheme for emergency medical assistance set up by the Municipal Health Secretariat.

Between April 20 and 24 and on Saturday (April 30), during the samba school parades, seven medical units spread out in strategic points of the Sambadrome will be available to the public and members of the samba schools, from 7 p.m. until the end of the parades.

According to the secretariat, the structure includes 32 beds, eight of which with advanced support. 71 healthcare professionals will be on duty during the Carnival period. Among them, 26 are doctors, 18 nurses, and 27 nursing technicians.

Patients with more severe conditions will be transferred to public hospitals or Emergency Care Units by ambulances with advanced support (mobile ICU)

Vote-counting

Health care services will also be offered during the vote-counting process of the school parade on Tuesday (April 24) at the Sambadrome, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Malaise due to heat or excessive drinking, hypertension, sprains, cuts, and various traumas are among the main causes why revelers seek care, Rio Health Secretariat says.

Municipal Secretary of Health Rodrigo Prado declared it is important that revelers are vaccinated since a vaccination passport will be required. “Everyone over the age of 18 must have a booster dose to be able to participate in the event,” he reiterated.
