São Paulo subway station welcomes homeless people
São Paulo’s Pedro II subway station is open to shelter homeless people at night until next Friday (20). The shelter service has the capacity to serve up to a hundred people between 7 pm and 8 am. Also offered are dinner and breakfast on 25 de Março street.
Early in the morning today (18), the thermal sensation reached -4ºC in the region of the Congonhas airport, in southern São Paulo city, despite the thermometers reading 7ºC. According to official records, 7ºC was the average in the city until the beginning of the morning, with a predicted maximum of 14ºC throughout the day. Tomorrow (19), the cold should continue with temperatures ranging from 7ºC to 16ºC.
The efforts of São Paulo state authorities also include the distribution of 900 blankets and 2 thousand sleeping bags to be distributed by the city at ten tents installed around the city.
The state’s Civil Defense should hand out 500 mattresses, 354 basic staple baskets, one thousand liters of sanitary water, and 200 personal hygiene kits.
