Inmet predicts “intense and atypical cold” in four Brazilian regions
The National Institute of Meteorology, Inmet, reported that the beginning of November will be “intense and atypical” in four of the five regions of Brazil. The lowest temperatures are forecast to the south.
The “sudden drop” in temperatures is due to the passage of a cold front that is followed by a “strong mass of air of polar origin”.
Forecasts suggest that, starting next Monday (31), the cold will arrive in Rio Grande do Sul and part of Santa Catarina, advancing, in sequence, through the entire territory of Santa Catarina, to then advance through Paraná, through the center-south of Mato Grosso do Sul and in part of São Paulo.
“The forecast indicates, at the beginning of next week, a drop of around 15°C in the South Region”, informed Inmet.
Between October 31st and December 1st, there is a small possibility of snow in the region between the southern plateau of Santa Catarina and Aparados da Serra, in Rio Grande do Sul. At the same time, the cold air mass will continue to move to the Southeast, Midwest and North of the country.
