Brazil's Supreme Court decided Tuesday (Aug 8) to authorize the extradition of an Israeli national convicted by a Tel-Aviv court of the murder of a Palestine man. Yehoshua Elizur escaped in 2005, before his sentence was issued, and was arrested in São Paulo two years ago.

In the trial, the justices understood that Israel has jurisdiction over the case, even though the incident took place in West Bank under the Oslo Accords, which failed to divide the areas controlled by the Israeli government and the Palestine National Authority definitively.

Elizur is believed to have stopped a micro-bus on a road near a Palestine settlement and shot a one of the passengers with a rifle. No date has been set for the extradition as yet, and the decision may be appealed.
