Brazil, Chile sign defense protocol

The foreign relations and defense ministers of Brazil and Chile presided over the first Meeting of the Brazil–Chile Political-Military Dialogue, held today (Aug. 9), aimed at deepening political dialog on defense-related matters.
During the assembly, officials from both nations signed the Protocol on Data Exchange and Defense Cataloguing Services. The document promotes the exchange of strategic perspectives on international security as well as the regional and global integration of the two countries.
On the agenda were peace maintenance operations, the role of inter-American defense institutes, regional challenges, cooperation in the Antarctic region, cybersecurity, science and technology, and defense bases.
