Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro will have a busy list of international engagements in March, with trips slated to the US, Chile, and Israel. The final details are still being worked out. Bolsonaro is expected to meet with US President Donald Trump, Chile’s Sebastián Piñera, and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The trips were disclosed by Foreign Minister Ernesto Araújo, after a meeting with vice-President Hamilton Mourão.

The visit to the US should take place between March 18 and 22. Next, the president will go to Chile, where he is to leave by March 23. Late this month, he is expected to go to Israel. Israeli newspapers say Bolsonaro’s trip is likely to happen from March 31 to April 4.

Bolsonaro’s visit to the US comes at a moment in which the two countries lead an international movement to have Venezuela’s self-proclaimed President Juan Guaidó recognized and humanitarian aid sent to the Venezuelan people.

In Chile, Bolsonaro should attend the Prosur Forum, organized by the Chilean president, on measures for the development of South America. The forum will be a place “with no ideologies or bureaucracy,” Piñera said.

Brazil’s trip to Israel is a way to return Benjamin Netanyahu’s December visit to the South American country and his presence at Bolsonaro’s inauguration ceremony. Last month, the Israeli prime minister sent a group of military agents to help rescue victims of the tailings dam collapse in Brumadinho, in the southeastern state of Minas Gerais.
