Brazil discusses climate change with U.S. special presidential envoy

Brazil’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change Marina Silva and Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services Geraldo Alckmin, on Monday (Feb. 27) meet with U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Brasília.

The visit to Brazil, which began on Sunday (26), "will advance the U.S.-Brazil Climate Change Working Group that presidents Biden and Lula relaunched during their February 10 meeting," in Washington, a U.S. embassy statement reads.

On the meeting agenda on collaboration between both countries in mitigating climate change, discussions on combating and reversing deforestation, advancing clean energy transition, and strengthening bioeconomy and sustainability are scheduled.

The U.S. envoy will remain in Brazil until Tuesday (28) and will meet with representatives of the National Congress and civil society leaders.
