First rescue plane leaves Tel Aviv carrying 211 Brazilians
The first of the six planes that the Brazilian government has mobilized to rescue Brazilians from the confrontation between Israel and the Hamas group in the Middle East left Tel Aviv shortly after 2 pm Brasília time on Tuesday (Oct. 10) carrying 211 passengers.
According to the Brazilian Air Force, the aircraft, a KC-30 with capacity for 230 passengers, will fly directly to Brasília, where it should land at the Air Base at 4 am on Wednesday (11).
By yesterday morning, some 2,200 Brazilians had contacted the Brazilian embassy in Tel Aviv seeking help to leave Israel. According to the Foreign Ministry, most are tourists who were visiting Tel Aviv and Jerusalem when last Saturday (7) the Hamas group, which governs the Gaza Strip, launched an attack on Israeli territory.
