Brazil’s Attorney General's Office filed Wednesday (Mar. 15) 100 more charges against people accused of participating in anti-democratic acts on January 8, when government headquarters were invaded and ransacked.

The new defendants are accused of criminal association and incitement of the Armed Forces to crimes against constitutional powers, civil institutions, or society.

The crimes are foreseen in articles 286 and 288 of the Brazilian Penal Code, with maximum sentences that, added together, can reach 3 years and 3 months of detention.

With the new indictments, the total number of charges filed by the Strategic Group for Combating Anti-Democratic Acts of the Attorney General's Office has reached 1,037.
