Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes convened the Court's 1st Panel to virtually review his decision to suspend the social network X (formerly Twitter).

The virtual session began at midnight on Monday (Sep. 2) and will run for 24 hours. Alongside Moraes, the 1st Panel of the Supreme Court includes Justices Luiz Fux, Cristiano Zanin, Flávio Dino, and Carmen Lúcia.

In the early hours of Saturday (Aug. 31), internet providers in Brazil began blocking the social network X following Justice Moraes' order from the previous day to suspend the platform. The decision came after Elon Musk, the platform's owner, missed the 24-hour deadline to appoint a legal representative for X in the country.

On August 17, Musk announced the closure of the company’s headquarters in Brazil, accusing Justice Moraes of threatening him. The announcement followed multiple violations of the justice’s orders.

In his post announcing the company's departure from Brazil, the billionaire disclosed a confidential decision by the justice. The document reveals that X had refused to block profiles and accounts amid a Federal Police investigation into the obstruction of criminal organization probes and incitement to crime.
