Presidential candidates report campaign expenditures
The eleven presidential candidates competing this year have informed the Superior Electoral Court (“TSE”) that expenditures with their electoral campaigns should amount to $413.8 million.
The figure reflects the maximum amount they will be able to spend in campaigning. It is part of the information required upon candidacy by the Electoral Justice from all candidates running for elective positions.
According to the data collected by TSE, Dilma Rousseff, from the Workers’ Party (“PT”), who is running for re-election, has declared $134.5 million as the maximum expenditure of her campaign. Aécio Neves, her main rival from the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (“PSDB”), plans to spend $130.9 million. Eduardo Campos, from the Brazilian Socialist Party (“PSB”), set his limit as $67.7 million. Eduardo Jorge, from the Green Party (“PV”), is to use up to $40.6 million in his campaign.
The remaining parties have registered maximum expenditures totaling $22.5 million. The lowest amount intended was reported by Mauro Iasi, from the Brazilian Communist Party (“PCB”): $45.15 thousand.
