Rousseff: I feel outraged and injustice about decision on impeachment
One day after the Chamber of Deputies approved to advance her impeachment's case, President Dilma Rousseff said she felt outraged and injustice about the decision.
In a press conference at Palácio do Planalto, the presidential office, Rousseff reaffirmed that the process against her has no legal basis, because she has not committed any crime of responsibility. The president reported that she watched all deputies' speeches during the vote and has not seen any "discussion on the crime of responsibility, which is the only way to prosecute a president in Brazil."
Mentioning the Constitution, the president said that impeachment is enforced by law, but "it is necessary to commit a crime of responsibility, so that the person can step aside from the presidency of the Republic."
By repeating several times the word injustice, Rousseff said she could only hit a single key, that is, there is no crime. This is important, because it is "the democracy key."
"The acts of which they accuse me were performed by other previous presidents and were not considered illegal, nor criminal acts. Therefore, when I say that I feel wrathful and downtrodden, it is because they are giving me a treatment that they had not given to anyone else."
The president added that "the acts were based on technical recommendations. None of them benefited me directly. These acts were not performed so that I could be unduly enriched," she stated.
Indirectly referring to Lower House Speaker Eduardo Cunha, she reported that "those who have bank accounts abroad" are leading the process. She declared that she is fully "conscious" that the acts signed by her that motivated the impeachment request are not illegal.
Rousseff gave her first public demonstration after the Chamber of Deputies approved the report in favor of the impeachment request this Sunday (Apr. 17).
