In a report submitted to the Supreme Court, Federal Police say the evidence gathered so far suggests President Michel Temer has condoned corruption.
In addition to the president, former federal deputy Rodrigo Rocha Loures, who served as a special aide to President Temer, is also being investigated. Police are still working to finish an expert examination of audio recordings of the president's conversation with business tycoon Joesley Batista.
The report went on to say Batista, who is the owner of JBS meatpacking giant, and his company's Corporate Relations director, Ricardo Saud, engaged in corruption. Both of them have signed plea bargaining deals with the Federal Prosecution Service (MPF).
In his official visit to Russia, Temer declined to comment on the findings because it was a legal issue, and his counsel asked to see the preliminary report. He denied the allegations made by Joesley and filed a defamation case.
