Bolsonaro to show Brazil free from "ideological shackles" in Davos
President Jair Bolsonaro wrote today (Jan. 14) on Twitter that his participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, from January 22 through 25 will be a chance to show “a different Brazil, free from ideological shackles and generalized corruption.”
This will be Bolsonaro’s international debut and the first time vice-President Hamilton Mourão will serve as acting president.
Bolsonaro tweeted that his plan is to “make business with the whole world, valuing economic freedom, bilateral deals and fiscal health. With these pillars, Brazil will walk towards full employment and prosperity. I hope to bring good experiences and advancements to our country.”
Fourth revolution
The theme of the World Economic Forum this year is “Globalization 4.0: Shaping a Global Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.” Leaders from around the world will discuss joint efforts to build a global, local, and sector-oriented economic agenda.
In addition to world leaders, representatives from over a thousand international companies and nongovernmental organizations are expected to attend. For four days, debates will focus on issues linked to economics, online security, geopolitics, culture, and industry.
After his return to Brazil, Bolsonaro plans to have his colostomy bag removed. He has been using it since he was attacked with a knife during a campaign rally. The surgery is slated to take place on January 28.
