Brazil opens up business office in Jerusalem

The Brazilian government inaugurated an office in Jerusalem to bolster its partnership with Israel in innovation, technology, and investment.
The office will be administered by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, Apex-Brasil, and led by international trade analyst Camila Meyer, internally recruited for the position. Her team will be made up of two people hired locally.
In attendance at the inauguration ceremony, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu underscored the potential of the unit to boost cooperation between the two countries. “Israel may be the most dynamic nation in terms of innovation. There’s been an ingeniousness boom here. And Brazil has an unbelievable potential. Its territory is vast, its population diversified, universities, the talent of its people, and we think that, if we combine the potential of both countries, we can benefit greatly,” he declared.
One of the topics to be discussed at the Jerusalem office, Apex reported, is the promotion of new technological collaborations as well as efforts to bring research and development centers to Brazil. Sectors that demonstrate Israel’s presence in technology include agribusiness, water resources, online security in customer and data protection, and the military.
“Through this representation unit, we have obtained a privileged new address for the execution of Apex-Brazil’s missions in promoting exports, internationalizing companies, and attracting foreign investment. As for Jerusalem, we’ve focused our work on technology and innovation, the promotion of new business or future business,” said Apex-Brasil President Sergio Segovia at the ceremony Sunday (Dec. 15).
