President Jair Bolsonaro said today (30) that Brazil is on the way to achieving self-sufficiency in wheat production, to the point that, in ten years, it will become a major exporter of the product. The statement was made in Campo Grande (MS), where it participated in the inauguration of 300 homes.

During the speech, the president spoke again about the concern of several countries in guaranteeing the food security of their population and that, in this context, policies aimed at the sector are as important as those for the defense of national territory.

Wheat

“We can live without a lot, but we can't survive without food,” he said. “For this reason, the most important ministry, in addition to Defense, is Agriculture”, he added, highlighting the relevance of this sector for the country's economic development.

Following, the president said that Brazil is on the way to stop being dependent on foreign wheat. “Who would have thought that Brazil is achieving self-sufficiency in wheat? In 10 years we will export the equivalent of what we consume in Brazil because productivity is increasingly present”, he added, without going into details about the projected scenario.

Housing

The statements were made during the delivery of housing at Residencial Jardim Kanguru, in the capital of Mato Grosso. The project is the result of a partnership between the federal and state governments, built within the scope of the government housing program Casa Verde e Amarela. The total invested was R$ 29 million.
