Lula's security team sweeps Planalto presidential palace

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's security team, made up of federal police officers, has been sweeping the main offices of the Planalto presidential palace, including that of the president himself. The measure aims to verify the possible existence of wiretaps and telephone tapping that may have been installed improperly, and to ensure total security in the work environments, according to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's press office.
Besides the sweeping, adjustments are being made, such as changing furniture, electronic equipment, and painting. There is no date for the president to start working at the Planalto palace. Just as there is no date for Lula and the First Lady Janja da Silva to move to the Alvorada palace, the presidential residence, which is undergoing the same type of sweeping and adjustments.
On Tuesday (Jan. 3), President Lula went to King Pelé's funeral in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo state, and returned to his hotel in Brasilia, where he has been staying since before his inauguration.
