During a press conference on Wednesday (Aug. 3), the US swimming team commended the Rio 2016 Olympic Village facilities. “The accommodations here have been great, just like any other Olympics,” said Ryan Lochte, a veteran at his fourth Olympics.

Missy Franklin, a US swimming highlight in London 2012 with five medals (four gold) also said she has not encountered any inconvenience. “Honestly, I felt so taken care of. The US OC [organizing committee] has come to do so much work to make sure that we have everything that we need. I think they did a great job, the best they could in making sure we had everything we needed in the village. I personally think everything's super convenient, we're really close to the dining hall [...] So far it' been a wonderful experience,” she said.

Another member of the swimming team, Katie Ledecky, a gold medalist in the 800m freestyle in London 2012 at age 15, said she is ready for the challenges in the coming days. “I do feel a lot more comfortable in this environment [...] I'm having a great time with my teammates […] and we're ready to go.” One of the athletes in the spotlight in the press conference, multiple-time Olympic champion Michael Phelps was the first to talk to journalists.
