Application period for More Doctors program extended
Brazil’s Health Ministry will extend the application period for the country’s More Doctors program—originally slated to end next Sunday (Nov. 25). The announcement was made Thursday (22) by Minister Gilberto Occhi.
The decision is reported to have been motivated by the high demand on the doctors’ part and also the “cyber attacks” targeting the website.
“Despite the attacks, there was no invasion, but the system loses speed, so we are considering a new date for making the applications effective,” said the minister.
Priority will be given to doctors graduated in Brazil or those who have re-validated their degree in the country.
By this morning, 6,394 applications had been submitted. The tender, invited this Thursday (20), offers 8,517 posts for work in 2,824 municipalities and 34 indigenous districts, which were previously occupied by Cuban doctors as part of a cooperation deal with Cuba.
