Brazil records 135,080 cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours

Total deaths reaches 296 in the same period

In 24 hours, Brazil has registered 135,080 cases of COVID-19. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the country has accumulated 24,044,255 cases.

1,571,613 cases of patients who had the COVID-19 confirmed are still in follow-up.

Data compiled by the Secretariats and the Ministry of Health point to 623,097 fatalities due to complications from COVID-19. In 24 hours, 296 deaths have been confirmed and 21,849,545 patients have been recovered, representing 90.9 percent of the cases.

The balance with the data was released on Sunday (Jan. 23) by the Ministry of Health. The update gathers information on cases and deaths sent by Secretariats of Health from the Brazilian states.

States

According to the balance, the state with the highest number of deaths from COVID-19 is São Paulo (156,493), followed by Rio de Janeiro (69,677), Minas Gerais (56,962), Paraná (40,988) and Rio Grande do Sul (36,640).

The states with the fewest deaths resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic are Acre (1,857), Amapá (2,036), Roraima (2,086), Tocantins (3,983) and Sergipe (6,074).
