One of the goals of the Brazilian Olympic Committee in Santiago was to secure as many spots as possible in the Paris Olympics. Thankfully, their mission has been accomplished. Brazil’s campaign in Chile clinched 40 more seats on the plane to the French capital, which now has 143 seats reserved.
At the 2021 Olympic and Paralympic Games, in Tokyo, 80 percent of the Olympic delegation and 95 percent of the Paralympic delegation were beneficiaries of the program.
In all, BRL 78,701,750 has been handed out to pay the 12-month benefit under the government’s Bolsa Atleta, created in 2005 to sponsor high-performance sportspeople in national and international competitions. The monthly allowance may reach BRL 15 thousand.
The funding for the Bolsa Família initiative totals BRL 82 million and aims to assist athletes aged 14 and older, with a focus on the Olympics and Paralympics.
