President Jair Bolsonaro spoke with journalists after flying over areas affected by the rains in Bahia. “Our presence is an act of solidarity with the people of Bahia,” he said.
Bolsonaro is accompanied by the ministers of Regional Development, Rogério Marinho, of Citizenship, João Roma and of Health, Marcelo Queiroga.
According to the decrees approved and published in the Official Gazette, 25 municipalities were declared to be in an emergency situation. Highways affected by the rains are being restored.
Civil Defense authorities warn that stretches of highways and roads have been compromised by water.
