President Jair Bolsonaro said today (Aug 16) that countries investing in Brazil for environmental preservation are “buying Brazil in installments.” He criticized Norway, which, like Germany, decided to suspend its financial contribution to the Amazon Fund.
Brazil’s Environment Minister Ricardo Salles met with Ambassadors Nils Martin Gunneng and Georg Witschel, of Norway and Germany, in Brasília on Wednesday (Jul 3) to talk about retaining the Amazon Fund, financed by the two European countries.
German Ambassador to Brazil Georg Witschel met in Brasília today (Jan. 21) with Brazilian acting President Hamilton Mourão, and argued for a quick conclusion of negotiations aimed at an agreement between Mercosur and the European Union (EU).
The National Museum, which was completely destroyed by a fire on November 2 in Rio de Janeiro, received Monday (Dec. 10) a sum of 180,800 euros as a donation from the German government. The amount will be used to recover items salvaged from the rubble.
