German Chancellor arrives in Brazil today
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrives in Brazil today (Jan.30) and will meet with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and business delegations.
According to the German Embassy, Scholz's trip also includes Argentina and Chile, emphasizing the importance of South America for the German government.
In Lula's agenda for today, released by the presidential palace, the Chancellor's arrival ceremony is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (Brasília time), followed by a bilateral meeting. At 6:00 p.m., Lula and Scholz will meet with Brazilian and German business delegations. This will be followed by an official statement to the press.
At 7:30 p.m., there will be a dinner in honor of Scholz at Itamaraty palace, headquarters of the Brazilian Foreign Relations ministry.
German Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development, Svenja Schulze, will participate in the meetings. Last weekend, she met with representatives of trade unions, civil society, and companies in São Paulo, whom she discussed issues related to sustainable energy with.
