According to official estimates, production should be 20.9% higher than last year—54.9 mi tons more. The forecast from September is 1.5 percent higher (4.8 million tons more) than the one made in August.
The Ministry of Agriculture estimates a growth of over 24%, or 75.5 mi tons. The result will stem chiefly from in soybean, corn, and cotton crops. “The domestic market, exports, and productivity gains should be the top drivers for the next decade,” the ministry reported.
The estimate for 2022 was 262.7 million tons of grains, cereals, legumes, and oilseeds. The forecast is 1.9% higher than the first forecast.
The official estimate is up 9.6% from 2022, pushed by higher forecasts for soybeans, first-crop corn, seed cotton, sorghum, and first-crop beans, per an October survey.
The area to be harvested reaches 72.5 million hectares, which means an increase of 5.8% or 4 million hectares compared to last year's result.
