Lula participates in General Assembly of Indigenous Peoples in Roraima

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva participates today (Mar. 13) in the 52nd General Assembly of Indigenous Peoples, in Raposa Serra do Sol indigenous land, in the state of Roraima. The discussions will focus on protection of traditional lands, natural resources management, and the agenda of the indigenous movement for 2023.

This is the president's second visit to Roraima since he took office on January 1. On January 21, he was in the capital Boa Vista, where he checked the humanitarian situation of the Yanomami people and determined urgent assistance to this indigenous people.

Since Saturday (11), about 2,000 indigenous leaders are discussing at the assembly themes such as territorial protection, environment, and sustainability. Among the leaders are representatives of the Yanomami, Wai Wai, Yekuana, Wapichana, Macuxi, Sapará, Ingaricó, Taurepang and Patamona peoples.

During the event, participants can also visit the organic products and crafts fair, and the exhibition of animals raised on indigenous lands. The debates will take place until Tuesday (14).
