Brazil's industrial output grows

Industrial output increased in ten out of 14 areas surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) between July and August this year. The biggest improvements were reported in Rio Grande do Sul (4.2%), Goiás (3.3%) and Espírito Santo (3.2%).
Other states that stood above the national average of 0.7% were Ceará (2.8%), Pernambuco (2.7%), Paraná (2.1%), Pará (2%), and São Paulo (0.8%). Higher industrial outputs were also seen in Santa Catarina (0.5%) and Minas Gerais (0.1%).
Conversely, the states of Amazonas (-4.5%), Bahia (-4.2%) and Rio de Janeiro (-1.6%) and the Northeast region (-1.2%) have experienced declines.
