Chile, China and Egypt lift bans on Brazilian meat imports

Chile has decided to lift its full ban on Brazilian meat imports, but has maintained a ban on products from the 21 meatpackers investigated by Brazil's Federal Police. China and Egypt also announced they are reopening their markets to meat imports from Brazil.
Chile's decision was announced by its Agricultural Service. The country had put all meat imports from Brazil on hold until clarification was given on the case.
Egypt had imposed a ban until the Brazilian authorities provided satisfactory clarifications. The country's Agriculture Ministry has declared it recognizes the quality of Brazilian meat after having it tested by three different government agencies.
Brazil's meat has also been cleared to enter the Chinese market, according to an announcement by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture on Saturday (March 25).
Egypt and China have maintained their restrictions on imports from meatpakers investigated by Brazilian authorities whose export certificates were revoked by the Ministry of Agriculture.
