Some 12.7 million Brazilians unemployed in October

The unemployment rate in the three-month period ending in October this year was reported at 12.2%—down 0.6 percentage points from the previous quarter. The number of jobless people in October reached 12.7 million.

Despite the fall, the rate surged 0.3 percentage points from the same period last year, when unemployment had been reported at 11.8%.

The figures were released Thursday (Nov. 30) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
